• • • Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol are to be found in significant concentrations in the fluids of the female genital tract.
    • The 40: 1 ratio between Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol has shown in various studies the ability to modify hormonal profiles, reducing plasma insulin levels, the glucose/insulin ratio and other hormonal parameters, thus contributing to the normalization of menstrual cycles and to improving hormonal parameters in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)^{1, 2.}
    • Folic acid also takes part in the normalization of the menstrual cycle while, together with other B vitamins (B6 and B12), contributes to the reduction of homocysteine levels in the blood. Various studies associate high levels of this amino acid (hyperhomocysteinemia)³ in the blood with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and observe that its presence is inversely proportional to that of folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12.
    • Melatonin, for its part, fulfills an antioxidant function inside the follicle⁴.
    • Likewise, patients with irregular menstrual cycles or polycystic ovary syndrome present vitamin D3 deficiency, which is correlates with the appearance of insulin resistance, menstrual cycle disorders and PCOS⁵.
