The symptoms of a lower urinary tract infection are:

            Burning sensation or pain on urinating

            Urgent need to urinate

            Frequent need to urinate

            Cloudy, strong-smelling urine

            Abdominal pain

Cistiseid® contains D-mannose, dried cranberry extract (proanthocyanidins, PAC), live lactic ferments (Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus salivarius and Lactobacillus reuteri), vitamin C and vitamin D.

Cistiseid® does not contain gluten or added lactose and it is formulated for easy solubilisation in water, with a mild, pleasant flavour.

The composition of Cistiseid® includes:

           D-mannose: there are studies explaining the mechanism of action that this sugar has on pathogenic bacteria, preventing them from adhering to the urinary tract. These bacteria are therefore eliminated in the urine, considerably reducing the bacterial load and, thus, the risk of infection.

            The amount of D-mannose used in these studies is 2 grams daily, so it is not known whether lower doses would be effective.

            PAC (cranberry proanthocyanidins): traditionally used for their beneficial effect on the urinary tract, their mechanism of action is also thought to consist of inhibiting the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria in the urinary tract. Recent scientific advances have shown that cranberry extract favours the development of an environment that is unfavourable for growth of the bacteria responsible for these infections.

            Live lactic ferments (Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus salivarius and Lactobacillus reuteri): which interfere with adhesion, growth and colonisation of the urogenital epithelium by pathogenic bacteria. This interaction helps maintain and restore the normal vaginal microflora.

            Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and vitamin D (cholecalciferol): which help normalise the pH of the urine, which may be altered during an infection, and contribute to the normal function of the immune system.

In the prevention of recurrent cystitis: It is recommended to take 1 sachet of Cistiseid® daily, preferably at bedtime and after urinating, for a minimum of three months and up to six consecutive months.

In the prevention of post-coital cystitis: It is recommended to take 1 sachet of Cistiseid® daily, preferably at bedtime and after urinating, for two consecutive days.

For the prevention of cystitis during periods of increased sensitivity: It is recommended to take 1 sachet of Cistiseid® daily, preferably at bedtime and after urinating, during the period of risk. Empty the contents of the sachet into a glass of water (150 ml), stir and drink.

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

            Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

            The product contains polyols, so excessive consumption could have a laxative effect.

            Keep out of the reach of young children.

            Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place below 25°C.

            Best before the expiry date that is stated on the packaging.
